Territoires de Cirque, the French network of cultural venues promoting contemporary circus, organises the second Nuit du Cirque (circus night) for not only one night, but three. This year’s Nuit du Cirque will be a 72-hour event. Why? Because a first evening always calls for a second, and that there can’t be two without three! Also, it’s great to have Nuit du Cirque, but it is even better if we have extra time to see and do more things, with more artists, in more places, and with more people.
Sharing the pleasures of circus more widely and celebrating its diversity is never better when there are many of us. In addition to its members, Territoires de Cirque invites all touring and production structures, local authorities, recreational circus schools, etc. to get involved in this new edition, throughout France and abroad. This year, Nuit du Cirque is even more international. circusnext and Circostrada, the European Network for Circus and Street Arts, are partners in making it all happen.
In the daytime, during the course of an evening or two, right through the night, here, and then there, Nuit du Cirque will include more shows, performances, creations, workshops, encounters, film screenings and exhibitions, in theatres, in big tops, in the street… Circus may also take place in museums: the European Museum Night planned for May was postponed and will take place on the Saturday night of the same weekend.
Everything is possible, everything is achievable, as long as we have more circus!
Territoires de Cirque organizes the event with the support of the French Ministry of Culture.
