LABS • Cirqueon hosts 5th circusnext Lab from October 2nd to 13th

Claudio Stellato, former circusnext jury member, will be the mentor of this new Lab in Prague!

 

This second to last Lab of 2022 gathers 8 artists for a dozen of work days with Claudio Stellato.

Claudio Stellato

Born in Milano in 1977, Claudio Stellato is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Brussels. He first trained as a jazz musician then entered Le Lido, Centre for Circus Arts in Toulouse in 2001.  

He moved in Brussels in 2003 and he worked as a contemporary dancer till 2011. 

             

In 2011, his first production, L’Autre, premiered at Les Brigittines in Brussels and has been touring the world during 4 years. This performance was the fruit of 3 years of research spent investigating the relation between body and object.  

Since 2014, he has been Associate Artist at the Halles de Schaerbeek in Brussels.     

In 2015, after 3 years and a half of research, he presented his second show La Cosa, at the Halles de Schaerbeek in Brussels. It was rewarded with the Critics’ Award for Best Circus Performance 2015-2016 and was played all around Europe until March 2019. 

Since February 2020 he is on tour with his last piece “Work” and became associated artist of the UC Louvain University in Belgium. 

Besides his own projects, he organises workshops and provides external advice on peer productions, collaborates with several theatre & dance artists and choreographers. 

 

“I will have the chance to be confronted with younger creators and understand their wishes, methods, tastes and energy. I hope to answer their questions with my experience and point of view of theatre: What do they like to be? What are they doing and why? Why to perform in front of an audience? And I will of course give them some practical advices about our cultural sector.”
