Because of the Covid-19 crisis and its subsequent restrictions, we had to cancel the circusnext selection week and laureates presentations this year. The whole selection and presentation process had to be redesigned to ensure the best possible support for the artists. Our hosting partners, Dommelhof in Neerpelt and Théâtre de la Cité internationale (TCi) in Paris were very reactive – and we thank them for their solidarity in these uncertain times.

– the selection week will take place in Dommelhof from May 4 to 8, 2021.

– the laureates public presentations in Paris were planned in January: they are also cancelled and will take place in TCi on September 30, October 1 and 2, 2021 at the same time as our Platform final conference.

Of course, these presentations won’t take place as usual: some artists are planning to premiere before the selection week, others might have difficulties having new creation residencies because of postponing impossibilities, etc.

Because of the exceptional circumstances, our usual rules for the presentations in Paris will be made flexible and adapted: companies will present their finalized and already premiered show, or premiere in Paris, or present a work-in-progress. 

We will adapt to the artists’ creation stage and communicate properly on the stage they are at. In the meantime, circusnext platform members will support the artists as best they can in their creation process.
